Girl Scout Day at the Symphony 2024

Festival City Symphony invites Girl Scouts, family members, and friends to “Suite Dreams of France,” a concert on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 2:00pm at the beautiful Bradley Symphony Center at 212 W. Wisconsin Ave.  Girl Scouts are encouraged to arrive early for the 1:30pm on-stage Meet the Musicians presentation, featuring instrument demonstrations by musicians of the orchestra.  Music educator Lynn Roginske will also present her Children’s Program Notes, a pre-concert discussion of the afternoon’s music selections for kids.

Pre-concert activities and the concert are great for Girl Scouts of all ages.  Participation relates to or completes steps 1, 2, and 3 of the Junior Musician badge.

Savor the fairytale charm of the French countryside with Festival City Symphony as the orchestra performs whimsical Suites by composers Emmanuel Chabrier and Darius Milhaud.  Full of fanciful charm and upbeat melodies, the opening Suites are the perfect prelude to Igor Stravinsky’s famous ballet from The Firebird.  Premiered in Paris in 1910, Stravinsky draws from folklore to tell the tale of a powerful ogre who captures young princesses and turns their rescuers to stone.  Will the princesses get free?  Will the Firebird turn to stone?  Join us live to have your own happily ever after-noon.

Girl Scouts will enjoy:

  • Welcome from the conductor during the concert
  • Meet the Musicians presentation (1:30pm on stage) featuring instrument demonstrations by orchestra members
  • Children’s Program Notes (pre-concert on stage) with discussion of the afternoon’s music selections
  • Commemorative patch for each Girl Scout in attendance

Admission for this event is free with a suggested donation of $7 per person for Girl Scouts and family members.  Click here to make a donation to FCS.
