Girl Scout Day at the Symphony 2023

Festival City Symphony invites Girl Scouts, family members, and friends to “Grand Passions and Tales: The Music of Italy and France,” a concert on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 2:00pm at the beautiful Bradley Symphony Center at 212 W. Wisconsin Ave.  Girl Scouts are encouraged to arrive early for the 1:30pm on-stage Meet the Musicians presentation, featuring instrument demonstrations by musicians of the orchestra.  Music educator Lynn Roginske will also present her Children’s Program Notes, a pre-concert discussion of the afternoon’s music selections for kids.

Pre-concert activities and the concert are great for Girl Scouts of all ages.  Participation relates to or completes steps 1, 2, and 3 of the Junior Musician badge.

Come take a musical tour of Italy and France led by Music Director Carter Simmons as Festival City Symphony performs beautiful music of the Italian masters Giuseppe Verdi and Pietro Mascagni, along with visions of four Fountains of Rome by Ottorino Respighi.  The orchestra will close with French genius Georges Bizet’s lovely music to the play L’Arlesienne, which recounts a tumultuous love tale.  Written just before his wonderful opera, Carmen, this music is treasured by all who hear it.

Girl Scouts will enjoy:

  • Welcome from the conductor during the concert
  • Meet the Musicians presentation (1:30pm on stage) featuring instrument demonstrations by orchestra members
  • Children’s Program Notes (pre-concert on stage) with discussion of the afternoon’s music selections
  • Commemorative patch for each Girl Scout in attendance

Please note:  Any COVID-19 protocols in place at the Bradley Symphony Center at the time of the concert will be followed.

Admission for this event is free with a suggested donation of $7 per person for Girl Scouts and family members.  Click here to make a donation to FCS.
